I’ve been loving this 5-finger retell strategy since I found it a couple years ago. Since kids have their hand with them at all times they can use it to tell their parents stories about their day! Here are the steps I usually use with this strategy…

1. Answer WH-questions about a story using the slide and our hands.
2. Retell a story using the slide and our hands.
3. Tell a story using the slide and our hands.
4. Tell a story using our hands.
