The more I check with parents about their thoughts and feelings about the upcoming approval of the COVID-19 vaccine for children the more I’m reminded of this. We each have different circumstances, experiences, and priorities and we’re each doing the best we can during this “storm.” My goal is to stay compassionate as I adapt to each family’s needs. I’ll continue to implement my PPE protocols with patients as long as they remain unvaccinated and plan to not require a vaccine for my patients (though, I will continue to disinfect before and after these patients and will implement my vaccine waiver if these patients need in-person treatment after the vaccine is fully FDA approved for children under 12).
